Hollywood doesn't care about art—just money—so it's no surprise that many people are interested in knowing how much an Oscar nomination for Best Picture is worth in dollars. Finally, they have an answer.

The research company IBISWorld crunched the numbers and it seems that over the past four years, Best Picture Oscar nominees saw an average increase in their box office gross of 22.2%, which translates into an extra $20.3 million. The winner of the award saw an additional 15.3% increase in business after winning the award, to the tune of $14.0 million. Looks like it really is an honor just to be nominated, at least by the only standard Hollywood cares about.
