This past weekend, the New York Post branded the maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of rape "A HOOKER," based on a single anonymous source, who said it was so. Now, she is suing them for libel. Makes sense.

The Post reported on Saturday that the Sofitel housekeeper "was doing double duty as a prostitute, collecting cash on the side from male guests." An article the following day reported that the housekeeper "continued to work as a prostitute in a Brooklyn hotel where she was stashed by prosecutors."

The NYP definitively stated that the woman "was doing double duty as a prostitute," based on "a source close to the defense investigation." And they branded her "A HOOKER" on their cover. I mean. Really now. Libel suits tend to be extremely hard to win, but I think she has a good shot! Unless Post editor-in-chief Col Allan personally hired her as A HOOKER, in which case, he should come out and say so.
