Herman Cain's Foreign Policy, in One Word: 'Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan'
The Republican party's latest affection in its presidential candidate speed-dating process, Herman Cain, is not and does not pretend to be this cycle's "foreign policy candidate." He doesn't want to be, and you can't make him! Instead, when quizzed about international relations, he will just mock his own lack of knowledge. That's his winning charm, maybe?
In a recent interview with CBN's David Brody, Cain said that he was indeed prepared for the foreign policy "gotcha" questions, by declaring himself preemptively "got" on all accounts:
BRODY: Are you ready for the ‘gotcha' questions that are coming from the media and others on foreign policy? Like, who's the president of Uzbekistan?…
CAIN: I'm ready for the ‘gotcha' questions and they're already starting to come. And when they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan I'm going to say, you know, I don't know. Do you know?
Ooh, this is my favorite deflection: "Do you know?" As it happens, I know very little about Uzbekistan, Herman Cain! I don't know its leader. I don't know its major cities or industries. I don't know much about its regional importance, or its culture. This goes for many countries. It's one of the reasons why I have chosen not to run for President of the United States.
