The Pew Research Center released the results of a study today that found the number of mixed race marriages has doubled in the United States in the past 30 years. The Pew website features a great summary of the report if you don't want to slog through all eight pages of data. Here are some of the most interesting findings, if you don't even want to slog through the summary.

* First off, the study found that 15% of all marriages in 2010 were between spouses of differing ethnicities, compared 6.7% in 1980.

* As in previous years, Hispanics and Asians remained the most likely to marry outside of their ethnicity, representing 26% and 28%, respectively, of the total interracial newlywed population.

* Regionally, the highest rate of intermarriage —about one-in-five of all newlywed couples— was found in Western states, possibly due to their large populations of Asian and Hispanic immigrants.

*Rates of human/vampire intermarriage were highest in Louisiana.**

*White males who married outside their race had higher combined earnings than did those who married other whites.

*Everyone should make an effort to befriend/join couples comprised of Asian husbands and white wives; this combination proved the highest-earning of all mixed races couples, with a median income of $71,800.
