We've long known that Madonna was part of the nefarious gay agenda, but a group of anti-gay Russian "activists" are now pursuing legal action.

Yes, Madonna is actually being sued for having the audacity to publicly support gay rights.

At her recent concert in St. Petersburg, the pop star encouraged attendees to raise their arms and display pink armbands that were distributed to show solidarity with gays and lesbians.

And horror of all horrors — some people actually did it.

Not hating gay people isn't a crime in St. Petersburg, but promoting homosexuality to minors is. (Seriously. It's a very recent law, too, passed back in February.) By asking people to show off their armbands, Madonna was saying "gay is OK," something the underage concertgoers apparently should not have been subjected to.

The lawsuit filed against Madonna, the concert organizer, and the venue is asking for 333 million rubles (about $10.5 million).

Lawyer Alexander Pochuyev denied accusations that the nine plaintiffs he's representing are stuck in the Middle Ages.

No one is burning anyone at the stake or carrying out an Inquisition. Modern civilization requires tolerance and respect for different values.

That's right, we're returning to the familiar defense of bullshit — we must be tolerant of intolerance, or we're "bullies."

Of course, "tolerance and respect for different values" only goes one way. Tolerance and respect for gays in St. Petersburg comes with a hefty price tag.
