Though many have condemned Donald Trump for repeating his claims that “thousands” of New Jersey Muslims celebrated on 9/11, and that there is old TV news footage somewhere out there to prove it, one brave, bumbling Fox & Friends host defended the “idea” of Trump’s story this morning. That man was Steve Doocy, of course.

Per Mediate, Doocy said he “remembers” American Muslims cheering on 9/11, too. Or rather, he remembers, uhh, according to his neighbors in the next town, uhh, that you know, things like that occurred. Behold, the racist chain email version of “remembering”:

I actually remember things like that. I remember, because I live one town away from one of the towns where, according to my neighbors, they saw it with their own two eyes, there were people celebrating.

I also remember there was video on television. I don’t remember if it was from that town or from New Jersey. Nonetheless, Donald Trump says there are a lot of people out there who have verified the idea of his story.

Even fellow host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who is not long for this Fox News world, could not keep from side-eyeing Doocy during his tortured monologue.

To be clear: No news outlet has verified Trump’s claims.
