Amy Winehouse Banned From America

Richard Lawson · 02/07/08 05:14PM

The druggy singer has been denied entry to the New World. She had been scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, but I guess now it's a big no, no, no. (Get it???) Her continued legal problems and recent stint in rehab are most likely why the US Embassy in London denied her visa. At last report, Winehouse was seen poking around the docks in Southampton, looking to smuggle herself aboard a steamship. [NYT]

Amy Winehouse to Sober Up with Ozzy Osbourne

Richard Lawson · 02/07/08 02:27PM

Oh for the love of... Rumors are circulating that troubled, drug addicted singer Amy Winehouse is going to move into the Osbournes' manor in England when she gets out of rehab. Formerly troubled and drug addicted rock 'n roller Ozzy Osbourne and his freakish, foul-mouthed family thought Amy would have a better chance at recovery at their house than in her own North London apartment. Picturing Amy and Ozzy stumbling around a big old British mansion muttering things to the walls and dust motes, then lying face down on the front lawn, quietly humming, is almost too much to bear. Oh to be a fly on those walls. This can't actually be happening, can it? [LA Rag Mag]

We read the celebrity news so you don't have to. In case this morning's one-paragraph gossip roundup was too much unbroken text, here's a handy guide to our ailing stars. They're dropping like flies!

Amy Winehouse Already In Rehab Following The Release Of Crack-Smoking Video

mark · 01/22/08 01:40PM

[Ed.note—Is there any way you could further illustrate her misery by ironically quoting the lyrics to one of her well-known songs? Get back to me ASAP. ] Realizing the audio fidelity of the video leaves much to be desired, The Derober blog has helpfully captioned the clip, an effort which should also assist those whose office computers have no speakers in fully appreciating the important crack-is-wack message The Sun is hoping to communicate through the widespread dissemnation of footage of Winehouse's latest rock-bottom moment.

Amy Winehouse Makes Britney Spears Seem Stable

Joshua David Stein · 01/22/08 05:30AM

Amy Winehouse—the London soul singer and most musical Jew since George Gershwin—is having severe severe problems. While we in the States are obsessed with Britney Spears' breakdowns and troubling life decisions, nearly every British tabloid today is featuring a video of Amy Winehouse smoking crack in front of a picture of her wedding. Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in jail. Also in the video, Winehouse snorts ecstacy and cocaine and claims to have downed 6 pills of Valium. The Sun led with "Amy on Crack." The Daily Mail with "Nosedive to Oblivion." This all to say, is Britney is still in pretty good shape! More from the Sun after the jump.

Baked Fish Is The Best

· We have to admit that, up to this point, we haven't been regular watchers of BET's Hell Date. That's all about to change.
· Remember when we said yesterday that we were totally going to buy the new issue of GQ because Rachel Bilson is on the cover? Well, we lied. Egotastic has got the pictures. Frankly, we were hoping for more.
· Our favorite Olsen, Ashley, made out with our least favorite Leto, Jared.
· Absolut Vagina! Probably better than Absolut Kurant.
· Enjoy this complete retrospective of Amy Winehouse's hair.

Grammys Single Out 'Umbrella,' Daughtry, T-Pain For Musical Excellence

seth · 12/06/07 02:25PM

Our complete and utter disinterest in the Grammys has become something of a Defamer tradition, with the mainstream music industry's most celebratory night of public self-diddling requiring of us zero emotional investment, thus greatly reducing the risks being forced to launch a mug of Kahlua at our TV sets after a particularly unjust upset. The Dixie Chicks are the best band on the planet? Sure, why not. That said, the 2008 nominees have been announced:

Hasn't Amy Winehouse earned the right to visit her incarcerated husband in prison without having to be subjected to a humiliating beehive search? After all—just because her most famous song is called "Rehab (No You Never Gonna Get It)," doesn't mean she's the type to do a bump mid-song before thousands of fans in Birmingham. [Starpulse]

Amy Winehouse Will Get You High Whether You Like It Or Not

Jen · 11/16/07 12:30PM

Who knew? Apparently there is such a thing as a second-hand heroin high. Amy Winehouse's tour manager, Thom Stone, has quit, fed up after a doctor found traces of heroin ("known as 'smack,'" The Sun notes helpfully) in his system. Stone alleges he inhaled the drug passively on Amy's tour bus. But in defense of our favorite beehive, isn't is possible Mr. Stone just had a heavily poppy-seeded bagel that morning?

Sexy Referees, Bloody Vajayjays And More Lagerfelds

Joshua Stein · 11/01/07 05:00PM

While we were swarmed by Bob Dylans at the Bowery, the hardest working man in the shutter business, Nikola Tamindzic, was party hopping. He hit up the dance party Shindig, Michael T's Motherfucker and the"culturally revolutionary" Flavorpill party. According to Nikola, "There were a whole lot of nurses and sexy pirates, Amy Winehouses and Karl Lagerfelds. Strangely I didn't see any iPhones." (He did see some seriously NSFW stuff which is here) . And with that, let's all say goodbye to another great Gay Christmas!

Amy Winehouse's Mother-In-Law Proposes Amy Winehouse Boycott

Emily Gould · 08/28/07 08:37AM

So what's the latest plan to keep Amy Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, from, you know, dying? Well, her in-laws Giles and Georgette Fielder-Civil appeared live on BBC Radio 5 this morning to tell you that you should stop buying her records. That way, Amy and Blake won't have any more money for the drugs they're addicted to, which Giles and Georgette theorize are crack and heroin. "I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs, and they are in control, but it seems to Georgette and I that this isn't the case," Giles explained. Seriously, don't you love how understated British people are sometimes? They could be clutching a bloody stump and they'd be all, "I'm feeling a bit poorly!"

Amy Winehouse's In-Laws Stage Intervention On The Radio [Guardian]

Emily Gould · 08/24/07 10:07AM

Husband-beater Amy Winehouse defends her man in a series of texts to P*r*z H*lt*n: "Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other... I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life." Also! "He is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles." They are not fucking around with this she's Sid and he's Nancy shit. [Daily Mail]
