It's been a while since we talked about Ann Romney's Olympics (loser) horse Rafalca, but the noble beast has reentered the political conversation.

By most accounts, Republican candidate Mitt Romney had a very bad week. But that's not how Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus sees it.

Yesterday, someone on the internet decided that President Obama's new campaign image—which features his campaign logo and some red stripes and is reminiscent of the American flag—kind of looks like this photo of a bloody handprint taken after the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya.

It took a few months, but the whole world now knows that Mitt Romney is just awful at running for president. One thing he's good at, however, besides accumulating ungodly sums of money, is staying in shape.

In Mitt Romney's almost comically offensive leaked speech, in which he says that the 47 percent of Americans who don't pay income taxes feel entitled to wild luxuries like "food" and "housing," the GOP presidential candidate also suggests that this 47 percent doesn't "take personal responsibility" for their lives. Some good things have been written about the qualitative validity of Romney's "personal responsibility" statement, but politics blog Squashed decided to look at its quantitative validity, also. Many people who don't pay income taxes have jobs, of course, but how much more would they need to work to be responsible in the eyes of Romney and his supporters? In short: A lot more.

Following a rally in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday, Mitt Romney was approached by pool reporter Jon Ward and asked if he was planning to ramp up his campaigning going forward.

"Your Jewish friend" Sarah Silverman is still on her political kick, this time setting her sights (literally) on voter ID laws and their potential to disenfranchise millions of voters — especially those likely to vote for the incumbent.

Ann Romney gave a wonderfully delusional interview on Radio Iowa today on behalf of her husband's campaign, which, as we all know, is going super well right now. Thankfully, Ann was able to do her part to contribute. To her husband's detractors within the Republican party, she had this to say:

A new Gallup poll shows that 36% of registered voters are less likely to vote for living, breathing political embarrassment and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney after hearing his incredibly obtuse "47%" comments. Of course, twenty percent of voters all but admitted they were awful by saying they were now more likely to vote for Romney after his remarks, which actually seems low, all things considered.

Singer-songwriter Randy Newman, best known today for his contributions to the soundtrack of Pixar's Toy Story franchise, scored a hit way back in 1972 with "Political Science" — a satirical send-up of American foreign policy that invites warmongers to "drop the big one and see what happens."

While most have focused on the "47 percent" comments from Mitt Romney's leaked fundraiser video, the full footage released today includes some very blunt words about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Barack Obama sat down with David Letterman today, and while they talked about more than politics, what everyone really wants to know is how Obama responded to the hidden camera videos of Romney that went viral yesterday.

It's been less than 24 hours since Mitt Romney's controversial "47 percent tape" first entered the news cycle and the Obama campaign has already managed to produce a political ad based around the the GOP nominee's "inelegent" comments.

At a press conference tonight, Mitt Romney defended the controversial remarks he made in hidden camera footage leaked by Mother Jones early today. Romney did, however, admit that his words were "not elegantly stated."

You know that really damaging hidden camera footage of Mitt Romney that's making the rounds today?

"I figure if somebody's dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they're gonna have to take what they get," Clint Eastwood told Jerry Penacoli in an interview for Extra.

A cache of hidden-camera videos of Mitt Romney, speaking at an off-the-record fundraiser sometime in the last few months, has emerged on YouTube and Mother Jones. Among other things, Romney claims that "47 percent of people will vote for [Obama] no matter what" because they "believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing," and that "it would be helpful to be Latino." The upshot: Mitt Romney in private is exactly the kind of entitled blowhard that you'd imagine based on his public persona.

According to multiple Romney sources cited in a damning Politico report, Stuart Stevens, Mitt Romney's chief campaign strategist, is to blame for Romney's gaffe-laden campaign. The sources in the article, which includes the sort of shit flinging you'd expect to read after a candidate loses, not before, fault Stevens for Romney's mediocre speech and Clint Eastwood's spectacular performance art piece at the RNC, amongst other campaign snafus.
