There seems to be a similarity among individuals I've spoken to (and myself) who have got into a routine of watching Modern Family. It rubs us the wrong way. We continue to watch it.

Tonight's episode of Modern Family was half-sitcom and half-advertisement for the iPad. Yes, Phil Dunphy's a person just like you or me and he's psyched for it to come out. The release coincides with his birthday and he's super excited.

In real life, fat guys never get the girl. Duh. But real life be damned! In TV land, anything is possible...including being a fat slob and still having a sexy and sometimes submissive wife. These are those lucky men.

Usually on network shows, the character with a learning disability or some form of autism is the character around whom painful personal anguish revolves (Parenthood) or is full of quirky lines (Community). Not so with Modern Family.

The title of this piece is a cocktail of arrogance, elitism and a bit of dick for flavor. But that doesn't make the statement any less true.

AfterElton put together a sadly hopeful little roundup of "gay" TV pilots currently in various stages of development today. It got us thinking about the current slate of gay folks on TV, and wishing for some new variations.

Last night, Chazz Palminteri guested as Shorty, an old friend of Jay Pritchett, Ed O'Neill's patriarch of Modern Family. Shorty seemed in-line with Palminteri's usual tough guy roles (Mulholland Falls, The Usual Suspects, etc.), save one nagging secret.

In last night on Modern Family, Phil's wife discovers some naughty pics on the family computer and decides she needs to have "the talk" with their son. Unbeknownst to her, the photo was actually Phil's. Lessons in deleting cookies, anybody?

We like Zach Galifianakis so much we won't ruin this post by complaining that anyone who first discovered him by watching "The Hangover" doesn't deserve to call themselves a Galifianakis fan. Whoops! Anyway, he is starring in a new film.

At least for the time being. While the wonderfully absurd workplace farce took home a bunch of Emmys on Sunday night, it hasn't had any affect on the new batch of comedies starting tonight. Prepare to frown.
