Now that she's embroiled in a bribery scandal, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is considering a move to New York. We think that's a lovely idea. Here is everything you need to know about New York's newest potential expat.

Name: Sarah, Duchess of York (nee Sarah Margaret Ferguson), more commonly known as Fergie (not to be confused with the pop singer of the same name).

Age: 50

Family:

  • Two daughters: Princess Beatrice of York (age 21) and Princess Eugenie of York (age 20).
  • Was married to Prince Andrew, Duke of York, from 1986 until 1996.

Residence: Was living next door to Prince Andrew in Windsor Great Park, but has offered to leave the property in the wake of the bribery scandal.

Occupation:

  • Professional royal, although that doesn't pay too well.
  • She gets $22,000 a year in alimony from Prince Andrew. She could have taken a larger sum, like fellow royal bride Princess Diana, but opted for a smaller settlement in the hopes it would create a better relationship between her and the royal family.
  • Was caught asking a reporter—who was posing as a foreign businessman—for about $750,000 to peddle influence with Prince Andrew. God only knows how many times she might have pulled this scam in the past.
  • Written a number of books, including memoirs My Story and What I Know Now: Simple Lessons Learned the Hard Way, a series of children's books like Little Red and Tea for Ruby, and a line of weight-loss books in partnership with Weight Watchers.
  • Spokeswoman for Weight Watchers until 2008.
  • Opened a health, wellness and lifestyle company called Hartmoor, which went out of business in late 2009 and lost about $1 million in its three years of operation.
  • Has appeared in numerous British documentaries and television shows, was a special correspondent for the Today show, and has served as a guest host on Larry King Live and The View.

Scandals:

  • Obviously right now everyone is talking about her selling her influence with the Prince.
  • Has been plagued by money troubles since her marriage to Prince Andrew. After the collapse of her business and the end of her Weight Watchers contract, it became public she owed considerable sums of money to everyone from accountants and lawyers to photographers.
  • In 1992, after a series of small gaffes had made her a favorite target of the British tabloids, she was caught by the paparazzi bathing topless and having her toes sucked by her "business adviser" John Bryan. She was still married to Prince Andrew at the time and it was this episode that led to their separation.

Charity Work:

  • Founded Children in Crisis, a charity to help impoverished children internationally, in 1993.
  • Started the Sarah Ferguson Foundation in 2006, which was also supposed to help children in peril. The charity was supposed to direct profits from her business ventures to charitable causes, but as of 2009 it had only distributed about $20,000 to charity.
  • Has worked with groups such as the Ronald McDonald House and the American Cancer Society.
