Grumpy Cat Latest Non-Human Entity To Get WSJ Stipple Portrait
The disgruntled angerbeast known as Grumpy Cat is the latest non-human entity to get the honor of a Wall Street Journal "stipple" portrait. Last week, it was Ronald McDonald, a nightmare clown that stuffs hamburgers in the mouths of sleeping children.
Who, or what, will be next?
The "stipple" is a kind of dot-heavy portrait made by the WSJ's elves. It is supposed to look dignified, and has long served as a kind of public award for elite one-percenters. If you're a very funny looking person to start with, however, there's no way the stipple is going to help.
Congratulations to Grumpy Cat, who is also now signed to do a movie or something. We hope that somewhere beneath that cat's permanent scowl, it realizes that millions of people are laughing at it, on the Internet.
